A good education has always been important and perhaps even more so in today’s ever-increasingly international environment.

For many clients relocating to London and the UK with children it is vitally important to have continuity and consistency in their child’s education whilst preparing them for, perhaps, the next international move a few years ahead and university.

As such, I am a qualified British Council Education Agent (reg. no. GAL/17582 ) and am able to support and guide clients on the British Education system from nursery through to applying to schools and university – both undergraduate and post-graduate – and help with applications too.

Does the UK have a different school system to my home country?

Most probably, yes. The UK has many different systems itself depending on whether you are at school within the state, private or international sector.

What is the difference between a UK state school, UK private school and an international school?

There are many differences but apart from different curricula, the main difference is that there are no fees at a state school. State schools are also non-selective apart from state grammar schools.

Can I secure a place for my child at a UK state grammar school before arriving in the UK?

Entrance tests for UK state grammar schools are taken several months, if not years, in advance of year of entry. Entry to a UK state grammar school is very competitive.

Which UK schools are non-selective?

UK state primary and secondary schools are non-selective. Some private and international schools too are non-selective.

Can my child continue their AP education in London?

Yes, we do have some schools in London and the south east that offer the AP curriculum.

Can my child study the IB curriculum in London?

Yes. Most international schools offer the IB curriculum in both Sixth Form and Middle Years. Increasingly, UK state schools are offering both the A’level and the IB curricula in sixth form. Some UK state schools, but not many, offer the IB Middle Years program.

Can you help me find the best schools near where I live?

Absolutely. That is one of our prime services.

Can I send my child to any state school in London?

In theory, yes. The practicality is that most schools are oversubscribed so how close you live to your school(s) of choice will affect you being offered a place for your child.

Can I send my child to any private or international school in London?

It depends on the school but yes, if the school has a place available and is non-selective, some private and international schools will offer your child a place. For those private and international schools that are selective, your child will have to sit an entrance exam.

How do I know which are the best state schools near me?

That is part of our expertise. We can help you identify the best state schools in the areas you would like to live and arrange school visits and meetings with the Head Teacher. We can apply to each school on behalf of you and your child(ren).

How do I apply for a place at a UK private school?

It depends on the school and the age of your child.

I want my child to continue at an International School, is that possible in London?

Yes, we have several international schools in London and in Surrey offering a combination of the IB and AP curricula.

What are the fees at UK private and international schools, and is there any financial support?

Fees differ from school to school across the UK. In London, fees for private and international schools can range from between £15,000 and £30,000 per annum per child.

Why should I send my child to a UK boarding school?

This is a personal choice. Many parents themselves attended a UK boarding school and want the same for their children. For many parents living and working overseas, a UK education is an investment in their child’s future. Attending a UK boarding school offers an excellent education as well as a network of friends and colleagues for life.

How do I apply to a UK university?

All UK university applications are completed via UCAS. We can support you through the entire lengthy application process; from selecting courses and universities to accepting offers from UK universities.

When do I need to apply to a UK university?

UCAS entries open one year before your preferred year of entry. The final date for applying for a place at a UK university is usually 15th January of each year.

I’m a mature student, can I still apply to study for an undergraduate degree at a UK university?

Yes. There is no age limit to apply for an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in the UK.

My school qualifications are not recognised by UK universities; what can I do?

It depends on what qualifications you have and in which country they were taken.
We can help you convert them in to grades that are recognised by the UK education system.

How much are the annual tuition fees at a UK university?

Tuition fees for most courses at most UK universities start at £9,000 per annum. For international students, these fees are higher. Exact costs can be found on the university’s website.

Will I be offered accommodation at my university of choice?

Most universities offer accommodation for first year students. The cost of this accommodation is in addition to the cost of tuition fees. Accommodation in the second and third years of a degree are usually in private accommodation.

What happens if I don't get offered a place at any of my choices of university?

It depends on why you are not offered a place at your first choices of university. But, there are still other options open to you to secure a place on a university degree despite not receiving any offers.

I didn't get the grades needed by my university of choice. What can I do?

You could apply for to study a foundation year on the course of your choice or apply for a course via the clearing service.
